Analysis of the Influence of TLP Installation Error on Tendon Tension
Tension Leg Platform(TLP) supported floating wind turbine (TLP-FOWT) has drawn more attentions recently due to their better hydrodynamic properties than widely used semi-submersible platform. However, TLP-FOWTs are sensitive to pretension. Installation errors can impact both maximum and minimum tendon tensions, potentially leading to tendon slack and even causing overturning. In this paper, installation errors are presented by the length difference between tendons to assess TLP-FOWT installation tolerance. The impact of installation error is divided into static and dynamic components, then the static analysis without ambient load and the dynamic analysis in frequency domain are conducted respectively. The source of error separates into two categories: anchor installation error and length measurement error. The influence of them on pretension was determined through static analysis, followed by a frequency domain dynamic analysis to determine the influence on Response Amplitude Operator(RAO). Key installation errors analyzed include in-group and out-group length variations, as well as horizontal shifts in anchor point positioning. For the newly proposed TLP-FOWT concept, the allowable installation error has minimal impact on the dynamic properties, and it can be directly revealed using the no-error model. Moreover, based on the static and dynamic analysis results, the influences of different installation errors on minimum and maximum tension are identified, and then the installation tolerance can be determined. Time domain analysis is finally used to validate the proposed method. In a conclusion, the new method greatly simplifies analysis procedure and improves the cost efficiency. It could provide support for the adjustment accuracy of the wire stopper and the determination of the initial pretension of the TLP-FOWT.
