Structural Strength Analysis of Concrete Foundation for Tlp Floating Wind Turbine
In the context of the ongoing trend towards deep-sea and large-scale development of floating offshore wind power, foundation structures are confronted with more complex environmental loads and long-term durability challenges. Traditional steel tension leg platforms (TLPs) face limitations in areas such as corrosion protection and maintenance, while semi-submersible foundations require extensive sea areas, restricting high-density wind farm layout. To address these issues, this paper conducts a structural design and strength analysis of a concrete TLP foundation for floating wind turbines. Based on the MIT/NREL TLP, the structural configuration is designed. Using section analysis theory combined with Python programming, the constitutive relationships and failure criteria of concrete components are established. A global finite element model is subsequently developed to simulate the stress distribution and structural strength under critical wave loads. The results demonstrate that: the effectiveness of the equivalent modeling methodology is verified through comparison between a detailed model and an equivalent global model; under critical wave conditions, the stress levels in all foundation components meet the strength requirements with reasonable safety margins. This study provides structural design basis and safety assessment methods for the application of concrete TLP in floating wind power, offering valuable references for promoting deep-sea wind energy development.

He got a bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Harbin Engineering University in 1999, and Master' and Doctoral degrees in Ocean Engineering from Florida Atlantic University in 2009 and 2012, respectively. His research interests includes marine materials and strictures, and technology for shipbuilding.
