Educational Programs at Ut-Flowind
In this presentation, we introduce a prospective educational program that we are developing under the UTokyo International Collaborative Research Organization on Floating Offshore Wind Energy and Related Technologies (UT-FloWIND).
UT-FloWIND was established on Oct. 1, 2025, and consists of more than 50 faculty members from 6 schools/institutes. With the collaboration of researchers with a wide range of expertise, a variety of courses will be offered from various perspectives, aiding comprehensive understanding from fundamental knowledge to the challenges of FOWT research and development. Students who complete the required set of courses will be issued a Certificate of Program Completion. The education program includes an internship at related companies, with close support and cooperation from the industry. Internship experience at those companies is strongly encouraged to help recognize and address real-world problems.
As for master's and doctoral research, we are planning to introduce a joint advisory system that allows students to receive advice and feedback from experts in both industry and academia. The joint advisory system helps students recognize the relevance of their research in a wide range of fields and it is expected that this leads to both a clearer research objective and greater research motivation.
As part of human resource development, courses for professionals will be provided, along with collaborative research with academia and industry.
