122427 - Development and Application of a Digital Tool for Real-Time Corrosion Monitoring and Decision Support in Well Integrity Management
Well integrity management is essential for preventing well leakage and ensuring the optimal performance of oil and gas wells. However, existing downhole monitoring tools are complex to install and unable to monitor the corrosion condition along the wellbore. These drawbacks limit the effective support for well integrity management and increase potential HSE risks. Therefore, a new digital and visual corrosion management platform was developed to overcome these challenges and enhance well integrity management.
By linking to the oilfield database to obtain dynamic real-time data and integrating it with static data through manual integration, a wellbore integrity database containing more than 46 types of data was formed after data cleaning. Key parameters were visualized. Based on the database, advanced corrosion rate prediction models were established to develop modules for single well corrosion rate monitoring, remaining wall thickness and corrosion life prediction for tubing, corrosion trend display for tubing and statistical analysis, and early warning of corrosion status in oil and gas fields.
Based on the existing management standards of the oilfield and the prediction of corrosion life, intelligent auxiliary decision-making for the wellbore inspection cycle was realized. At the same time, a one-click material selection module was developed by combining the corrosion rate prediction with the in-situ pH value calculation module. The Dashboard realized the display and dynamic update of more than 46 types of wellbore integrity parameters. The developed corrosion rate prediction module achieves the prediction accuracy of commercial software and realizes real-time prediction of corrosion rate for various types of wells in the field, even including gas lift wells. The dashboard realized the prediction of the remaining service life of the wellbore and guided the selection of the next logging time. By fully utilizing the wellbore integrity data, visualization and early warning of wellbore corrosion risk were realized, enabling rapid identification and timely disposal of wellbore risks. The developed tubing material selection module only requires inputting some easily obtainable parameters to provide accurate material recommendations.
This dashboard is currently the only tool capable of calculating corrosion rates for gas lift wells. It enables a dynamic display of corrosion risk and integrity parameters for various types of wells, providing support for intelligent decision-making in oil and gas fields. It is also able to give quick recommendations for material selection through simple parameter input to support wellbore integrity management.
