126639 - A Time Domain Prediction Method for Coupled Dynamics of a Ship and a Water Intake Riser Considering Vortex-Induced Vibration Caused by Ship Motion and Uniform Current
Abstract: The mobile aquaculture ship and the water intake riser will produce the coupling response under the action of wave and current. Specifically, the vortex-induced vibration under the time-varying flow field and the global dynamic response of the riser will be generated by the ship motion, meanwhile, the dynamic response of the riser will affect the ship motion in turn. The current algorithm is to calculate the ship motion first, regard it as the boundary condition of the riser, and then calculate the dynamic response of the riser. It ignores the coupling effect between the ship motion and the dynamic response of the riser. Therefore, a coupled time-domain prediction method for ship motion, global dynamic response, and vortex-induced vibration of the riser is developed. By simulating the first-order dynamic responses of the ship, and comparing them with the simulation results of the commercial software SIMA, the accuracy of the time-domain solution program for the ship motion is verified. The accuracy of the coupled time-domain solution program for the global dynamic response and the vortex-induced vibration of the riser is verified by respectively comparing the simulation results of the in-line and cross-flow dynamic responses with the results of the Orcaflex and experimental results. Based on the coupled time-domain prediction method, the coupled dynamic responses of the ship and the riser under regular wave only and a
combination of uniform current and regular wave are predicted synchronously.
